Ms. Cara, Teacher
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, as the teacher at The Little Schoolhouse. My name is Cara Haar and I have lived in Bragg Creek for most of my life. We chose to live out here to raise our four children in this beautiful, small community close to the mountains.
I am very interested in working with young children, scaffolding and facilitating their development and growth. I believe in a child-centered learning environment with strong parental involvement and connections within the community. In past work experience, I taught kindergarten in a special needs environment with a focus on individualized instruction and learning through play.
I am incredibly creative, passionate and committed to early childhood education. In my studies for my Masters degree at the University of Calgary, I explored all facets of the Reggio Emilia approach to the education of young children. As a culmination of these studies, I travelled to Italy to observe and reflect on their pedagogy of learning and practice. This child centered, project based philosophy will be an asset to the early school experiences for children at the Little Schoolhouse. My presence in the classroom as a leader and motivator is what challenges me to teach to each child's potential. I am looking forward to this new opportunity.
Cara Haar, M.Ed.
