THINGS TO REMEMBER:
Indoor Shoes
Your child will need a pair of indoor shoes that they can easily put on for
transitions. These shoes will stay at school for the year.
Extra Clothes
Please send your child with a set of “Just in Case Clothes” that is labelled and can be kept at the school.
Outdoor Gear
We try to explore and play outside each school day. Please send you child each day with appropriate outdoor gear that can get wet or dirty.
Backpack
All children should come to school each day with a backpack large enough to fit a lunch box, water bottle, outdoor gear, as well as transporting art and crafts to and from school.
Snack Bag & Water Bottle
Please bring a healthy, nut-free snack (and lunch for Kindergarten) as well as a spill-proof water bottle that they can sip through the day.
Label Your Child's Belongings
Labeling all outdoor gear, backpacks, footwear, water bottle and lunch kits is extremely important, especially at the beginning of the year when we don't always know what belongs to who.
TUITION/FEES
All school payments can be made through our secure online platform, TUIO (registration fees & Preschool tuition). Contact our Office Manager at office@thelittleschoolhouse.ca for more information.
VOLUNTEERING
Parent Involvement:
There are a number of ways to get involved and be part of this amazing school. Fundraisers, classroom participation, field trips, board of directors, and special event organizers are just a few ways to be part of your child's school. You will also get to know the teachers and meet other parents along the way. Because the Little Schoolhouse is privately funded, we rely upon the support of each family to help make this school run at its best. Please note, all volunteers working with children must submit a current Police Record/Vulnerable Sector Check.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
LSH & BCESA
As mentioned above, the parent led board consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary work together with the Teacher and make up the Board of Directors. This school board operates under the incorporated title of Bragg Creek Education Services Association (BCESA). The board is a volunteer position that is mostly filled by parents currently enrolled at The Little Schoolhouse. It is a one year commitment of about 2-3 hours per month, including one board meeting per month. Elections take place at the General Meeting each May. This is just one of the many ways parents get involved not only in the school but in the community as a whole.
Board Meeting Minutes and financials are available upon request. Everyone is welcome to join the monthly board meetings.
Learn more about best practices in board governance by reviewing the resources found through the Board Development Program or the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta (AISCA).
