 A Letter From The Teacher

Here at the Little Schoolhouse we embrace each child’s unique learning style as they discover and explore with a variety of materials. Our Preschool and Kindergarten programs are child-centred with purposeful play, guided by the Early Learning Curriculum Framework. With small classroom sizes and specialized services, we see the potential to learn and grow in all children and are honored to work with diverse learners.

The Little Schoolhouse has been a treasured part of the Bragg Creek Community since 1974. We appreciate the support of our students’ families and the people in this community who value early childhood education.

The entire staff at the Little Schoolhouse comes to the classroom with extensive knowledge and experience in early childhood education best practices.

Registration for our 2024-25 programs is now open!  Please email me at if you have any questions.  We cannot wait to meet you!

Mrs. Shelley Jackson, B.Ed.

Kindergarten Program

9:00am-3:15pm (Tuesday & Thursday)

*FREE* - Fully Funded by AB Ed.

Our Kindergarten program is funded by Alberta Education and we therefore follow the rationale and philosophy that has been prepared by Alberta Education. The purpose of Kindergarten is to provide learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate in order to meet the diverse needs of children and promote a positive attitude toward lifelong learning.

Preschool Programs

(Ages 3-4)

3-Mornings 8:45am-11:45am (Monday/Wednesday/Friday)

3-Afternoon 12:15pm-3:15pm (Monday/Wednesday/Friday)

*Please note all children must be independent in the washroom to enrol.

The main purpose of the program is to give young children a fun and meaningful introduction to a preschool environment, where they can learn to interact well with other children and adults.  In the process children are being well prepared for Kindergarten and beyond. Manipulative and creative activities now focus more specifically on pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-math skills, and children are encouraged to plan and share their activities of the day.

Early Intervention

Specialized services through Bragg Creek Education Services Association provides Mild/Moderate and PUF funding, and enhances the classroom with Speech-Language & Occupational Therapy.  Each September, our team of specialists  screen and assess young children ages 3-5 years to identify possible areas of focus in speech-language, fine or gross motor, and sensory development.  Forms will be sent home to every family.
